Business Development Manger

Overall Purpose of Role:

Our client a leading biopharma consulting firm require a Business Development Manager experienced in consultative sales. The successful candidate will be tasked with generating new business across pharma, medtech and biopharma industries (up to and including $1bn t/o). In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and growing existing client relationships through focussed account management and retention activities.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about winning; focused on energizing client relationships and looking to build relationships at all levels within an organisation. To excel in this role, you will be a high-energy and proactive individual experienced in a consultative selling approach, highly effective communication skills, and the ability to execute on multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactive new business generation within an assigned territory focussed on targeting the pharma, medtech and biopharma industry
  • Maintaining a robust pipeline for future sales by sourcing new prospects as well as qualifying inbound leads for conversion
  • Collaborating both externally and internally with technical experts and other commercial teams
  • Engaging and communicating effectively with senior decision makers promoting end to end solution sales
  • Optimize the customer journey and experience
  • Create, present and execute strategic territory and business plan
  • Generating proposals and demonstrating capabilities across services in a defined territory
  • Attending conferences and events with the aim of developing new business and supporting existing clients
  • Accurately maintaining and developing prospect/client data via our CRM tool


Education, Experience, and Competencies Required:

  • Business or Scientific Degree preferred
  • Pharmaceutical or healthcare consulting industry experience
  • Previous working experience in consultative sales
  • Team player, experience of collaborating with cross-functional and international teams
  • Track record of delivering results and exceeding sales quotas in collaboration
  • Experience in both territory and strategic account planning
  • Experience in creating custom proposals and responding to RFPs
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills
  • Clear thinker with proven ability to synthesize complex issues into simple messages
  • Languages: fluency in English is a must. Knowledge of any or several other European languages (French, German, Spanish or Italian) is desirable
