Our Client is an exciting boutique life science consultancy, working with some of the leading pharmaceutical brands on early stage strategy.

Job Purpose

Lead the relationship at all levels with the assigned clients. Responsible to ensure client satisfaction with projects, understand current and future client needs and how to position the service offering in order to meet those needs, and to secure $2.5MM in annual revenue from assigned accounts (renewal and expansion of business at assigned client).

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Valued Strategic Partner:

  • Become the key strategic partner for path to market, asset design, and franchise/company strategy activities. Be able to listen to, understand, process, and investigate the needs at assigned clients – with a focus on how to best fulfil those needs 
  • Become a regular presence at the client. The Principal should be invited into critical discussions and forums by the client (e.g. the business planning process) because of the trust developed and a true sense of looking out for the client’s best interests

Analysis of client needs and development of solutions:

  • Critical analysis of client requirements based upon commercial and medical drivers, market situation and company environment
  • Recommendations on strategy and tactics based upon situation analyses
  • Maintain strong network across the Pharma and Biotech industry in order to keep abreast of industry changes, company pipelines and product developments

Project support:

  • Be aware of and provide oversite where needed for project delivery. Understand where to “stay in touch” and where to lead or supervise more – always ensuring the best delivery to the client
  • Engage with the consulting and account teams in planning for projects, delivering projects, and observing additional opportunities presented that are related to the projects.
  • Ensure presentations, content, workshops, etc. are all delivered to meet client needs and in a manner that will “WOW” the client.

Client services liaison:

  • Work alongside the CSD and partner to ensure high quality client contact at all stages of the project through the account managers, from initiation through to completion, and support CSD in development of ongoing client proposals in line with client needs
  • Develop relationships with current and new clients to facilitate business development

Analysis of client opportunities:

  • Work with consulting group on preparation of reports outlining clinical development strategies relevant to assigned clients (e.g. client pipelines, competitor pipelines)
  • Be the expert on the client – strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and beyond.
  • Use tools (e.g. to ensure a complete picture of the people, organization, responsibilities, and relationships at the assigned clients

  • Working effectively as a valued team member ensuring quality project delivery taking into account the skills of all team members
  • Ensuring work is completed in a timely fashion – an ability to influence and direct team members that do not report into you

  • Work as a key member of the team to ensure new processes, approaches, ideas, guidelines are rolled out and implemented across the company

Key Performance Indicators

  • $2.5MM in annual revenues from assigned clients
  • Above average satisfaction scores from clients based on post project surveys
  • Weekly face-to-face meetings with key decision makers at assigned client
  • 360 feedback scores that recognize proper planning, engagement, and oversight of project delivery teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MBA)
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience
  • 5+ years experience in pharmaceutical/biotech strategic consulting or inside a pharmaceutical/biotech company in a strategic role
  • Experience in commercializing pharmaceutical products
  • Strong network at executive levels across the pharmaceutical and biotech industries
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of programs and projects
  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MBA)

  • Deep understanding of the drug licensing and regulatory processes across Europe and the USA
  • Understanding of forecast methodology and the ability to critique forecast models and key model inputs
  • Understanding of developing strategic positioning and critical analysis of existing positioning work
  • Excellent concise, written and verbal communicator
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to present scientific and commercial information in an accurate and appropriate fashion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • An understanding of resourcing of medical projects and able to liaise with account management on budget construction and control
  • An understanding of medical ethics, codes of compliance and the responsibilities of client confidentiality
