Cranmore Executive search is currently supporting a leading international provider of consulting and technology-based solutions, in their search for an experienced Principal Consultant for their global Academic & Government practice to design, conduct and manage innovative quantitative analyses for program evaluation, science management and research assessment.

The position offers challenging hypothesis-driven projects for professionals with a scientific background and a desire to become a leader in data-driven science management. The Principal Consultant will have responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Consulting with clients to define their needs and ensuring client satisfaction through delivery of quality services completed within the agreed upon timeframes
  • Identifying appropriate methodologies to answer client questions, and interpreting results
  • Leading the design and implementation of projects as a senior member of a multidisciplinary analyst team
  • Driving projects to completion within a designated budget and timeframe
  • Collaborating with a diverse group of subject matter experts, executives and managers
  • Communicating complex research findings and innovative methodologies clearly and effectively through written research reports, data visualizations, client or conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications
  • Working independently and as part of a team
  • Developing and adhering to project plans, schedules, and milestones, while adhering to standard processes and methodologies
  • Serving as a point of contact to answer client questions and resolve project issues
  • Managing both people and projects

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of relevant consulting/advisory experience supporting clients within the academic and/or government spaces
  • Experience working with government agencies or research funding agencies in evaluating or managing scientific portfolios
  • Familiarity of how science is performed, funded and managed
  • Knowledge of science citation data such as Web of Science, bibliometric and scientometric methods
  • Comfortable with data analysis including the use of SQL, R, or Python
  • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources
  • Demonstrated project and team management capabilities
